¢.18 Beers and $10 Sushi With Brandon Losh & Johnny Felsenthal

Semester at Sea / Study Abroad in Berlin

Brandon Losh and Johnny Felsenthal did Semester at Sea and Berlin about as good as you can do it. They’re great friends who studied abroad in different locations at the same time and actually missed visiting each other by a two weeks.

One of the ongoing themes throughout The Study Abroadcast is that they system just worked;

it does work, why else do you think I’m doing the podcast…

Anyways, that could be more evident with this episode.

Detailed recollections

Close encounters

Late nights

All in a days work a semester’s trip.

They’re pretty funny, too. And it sounds more like you’re shooting the shit with them in their apartment than it does podcast interview.

So listen ⤴️, interviews like these are hard to beat.

Corey and her classmates aboard the M.V. Odyssey

“I feel like I’ve grown so much in these past five months that I’m still me, just a better version” — Corey Miller

Exercise science major, Corey Miller couldn’t decide where to study abroad so she decided to study abroad everywhere. Yes, that is an option, and it comes in the form a ship.

That ship is called the M.V. Odyssey, and it comes in the form of a program known as Semester at SeaYou could honestly break this interview up into 11 parts, or at least four continents.

Julie Alagna Walks Us Through The Process of a Semester at Sea

Julie Alagna of Semester at Sea

Instead of being in one location while you’re studying abroad, you’re actually going all around the world” — Julie Alagna

ALL ABOARD…Semester at Sea is an amazing opportunity. Julie Alagna did it herself, and now she works for them. If you’re at all interested in embarking on this incredible journey you should definitely tune into this podcast.

Julie covers just about everything from applying to scholarships at the beginning to signing up for classes to the living arrangements on board.

Interesting fact: Julie speaks fluent French, and we find out why early on in the interview.

Quote Julie would like to leave you with:

8 Reasons to Take a Semester at Sea

As you can see below, this boat offers many amenities that that of a traditional cruise ship has (as I write this I’m cringing with regret for not taking part in this adventure) and is built to cater specifically to college students. Each semester, whether its spring, summer, or fall, offers a different charter so no two journeys are the same. One caveat as I’m guessing you already had a suspicion of is that Semester at Sea is a little more costly than your average study abroad extravaganza. In 2018 the fees started at $25,074 and that’s without expenses you occur on land. Nevertheless, after talking to friends, it is definitely worth it if you can find a way. I’m currently working on a blog post about regret and I don’t see a way that anyone could regret this experience no matter what the cost.
